My graphic poem “The Morning After the Zoom Before” appears in this publication alongside poetry, writing and art by queer writers published by Out on the Page.

“In Out on the Page's first print publication, LGBTQ+, twenty writers and artists explore the spirit of Modernism through a multiplicity of queer lenses. This wonderfully diverse selection of new writing, photography and visual poetry was selected from entries from across the UK and beyond.”

Feminist Library Printed Queer Zine Dictionary

My mini poem about weeds appears in this publication.

“To celebrate Pride we are making available our wonderful Queer Dictionary Zine, available for the first time in printed form!

This new publication from the Feminist Library has contributions from over 40 artists exploring the idea of a ‘queer dictionary’ through original artworks and texts. Within these pages you’ll find illustrations, poetry, reclaimed words, but – most importantly – a space to exist within a queer, feminist family.”

ZINE-O-GRAPHY

My first ever zine! for some strange reason this got 1k views in the first week. the music is by me as well. Enjoy!

WHAT IS A ZINE?

A zine is a self-published book/ pamphlet. The word comes from a blend of “fan” and “zine”. These days it is shortened to just zine. Sci-fi fans in the 1940’s popularised the usage and later on, zines were used by DIY musicians to promote punk gigs and events. Basically, once you realise that the mainstream press is ignoring your ideas, culture and creativity, you begin to realise the value of alternative, independent and DIY news/ publishing.

I started making zines because..

I realised that I didn’t need to wait for a magazine editor to decide to include my work, but that I could take action and assemble my own meaning. If you’re interested, let me know and I wil write a blog about my zine-making process. I was hugely inspired by artists like Mark Pawson. I have sold and swapped my zines at places like DIY Cultures, DSFL, the ICA. Zines of mine are in zine libraru collections including: Tate Britain and Goldsmiths University Library. The making of a zine is to some extent three-fold. I make it to express something that might be hard to put into words (my first zine was mostly drawings), for it to reach and connect with someone who resonates with the emotions is deeply meaningful, and existing as part of a library with other zines in a place of cultural education is exciting and feels fulfilling.

The first zine i ever came across

was called The Zine (a compilation of submissions by Bo and Cedric) which i discovered at a local newsagent in Essex as a teenager. Yet it was not til 10 years later that I made my own first zine in 2008. It was inspired by meeting an artist called Gabba who’d come over from Berlin at the feminist underground event called WANC. She talked about her zines and art, and patiently answered my many many questions!
