Talk announcement! I'll be presenting at LD Comics
LDComics Online Global: Monday 8th January 2024, 7pm (UK time) £0.00
I’ll be talking about my zines, art and comics at an LD Comics Zoom event hosted by Wallis Eates, alongside artists Madeleine Burt and Deena Mohamed.
Madeleine Burt
Madeleine is an illustrator, writer, artist and educator. Originally from a Fine Art background, Madeleine Burt retrained in Illustration in 2020 and is now undertaking a practice-based PhD at Nottingham Trent University, whilst lecturing on the Graphics BA and the Illustration MA courses there. Burt’s graphic novel work explores how to depict the inner workings of our minds and our emotional and cognitive responses to the world.

Deena Mohamed
Deena is an Egyptian comics artist, writer and designer. She first started making comics at eighteen, with her semi-satirical semi-sincere webcomic Qahera about a visibly muslim Egyptian superhero that addresses social issues such as islamophobia and misogyny. After that, she researched the history of Egyptian comics for her undergraduate thesis in graphic design, which inspired her to create Shubeik Lubeik, her multi-award winning graphic novel trilogy.

The Mollusc Dimension
Born in 1980, The Mollusc Dimension aka Squid (he/him) is a British-born Chinese, multidisciplinary project-based artist. Currently developing his debut autobiographical comic book, “The Weird and Wonderful Surviveries of Squid Horse”, he’s thrilled to speak at LD Comics about his practice, intersectionality, self-published zines (since 2008), interactive projects and squiggly path to comics!
