IMAGINE - Bach, Beethoven and Brahms in a Zoom Christmas Party!

News of Tier 4 Christmas lockdown last night had me feeling even more determined to make something uplifting!

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO MAKE THEIR OWN MEME, I ADDED THE ORIGINAL BELOW!

The caption reads: “Strange times, friend. I hope we can get together. In the ways we can. Make music. Tell a story. Recall funny memories … and so on.”

Unfortunately, here in the UK where I live, and elsewhere, there is a risk of anti-Asian racism. I hope that I will be able to reduce my anxiety levels too by combining my research into NVC (Non-Violent Communication) and belief in the power of art to heal, sustain and propel me, as well as communicate how I feel to others,

Indeed, IMAGINATIVE PROCESSES and HUMOUR are two aspects which I very much wish to explore more.

As a piano teacher who has attempted with varying degrees of success, to teach online during the Lockdown and beyond, thinking about the idea of the three B’s in a Zoom Meetings brings a smile to my face!

Even though musicians who play in many styles have used internet technology to perform, teach and interact with fans, the three B’s (as Bach, Beethoven and Brahms are known) lived during different eras - so this is a picture combining music teaching, music history, sci-fi, internet technology and TIME TRAVEL!

JS Bach (1685-1750), Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) and Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) transcend time and space in a Christmas Zoom meet-up.

I found the images by searching the composer’s name and “public domain”. I edited them into a Zoom screenshot. Also, if you look carefully, I made sure that the number of participants was 3! However, I realise that most of the time, Zoom frames are landscape in form, so maybe I will try to remember that next time. Still, for memes and humorous art, sometimes part of the funniness comes from the imperfections. I noticed that Bach and Beethoven are each pictured holding a score, while Brahms is not, and I was thinking of a joke about not getting the memo about bringing a new piece to the work meeting, but then I thought this would be music nerd OVERKILL.

Placing a Santa hat on each dignified composer’s head was a Christmassy touch. I made the hat out of red patterned tissue paper, a few years ago, and the white bit is made out of a cotton pad that I pilfered from my mum’s room. There are advantages to living with one’s parent…

Well, that’s it from me for today. I’ll be back soon!
